ENTREPRENEUR’S BACKGROUND:
Efrat was born in the village of Atigai in the Gondar region of Ethiopia. She made Aliyah with her family at the age of 12.
She learned about cuisine when she was a child and, as her mother died when she was small, she began cooking for the
family from a young age. She tried to bring happiness to her family by making the dishes her mother used to prepare.
Around four years ago Efrat returned to Israel with her family, after a 4-year stay in Sydney, Australia, where her husband
served as a representative for Keren Hayesod-UIA.
Efrat has a wealth of experience in assisting new olim, from the period when she worked as a House Mother at the
Meiron Absorption Center in Tzfat.
Throughout her term there, she endeavored to impart healthy eating habits to the residents, and also ran culinary
workshops for the olim.
During her time in Australia, the members of the local community there greatly enjoyed the authentic Ethiopian dishes
Efrat prepared. Friends frequently asked to come to her home and to enjoy the special flavors she created. After returning
to Israel, Efrat decided it was time to offer her Ethiopian cuisine to the world, and to tailor it to the Israeli palate.
