EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND SERVICES
Professional development opportunities – conferences, seminars, workshops and in-service training programs in
Israel and abroad for those working in both formal and experiential settings – are offered by the WZO, KKL-JNF
and The Jewish Agency in order to assist educators in conceptualizing their approach to Israel education while
gaining a better grasp of the realities and complexities of Israeli society. The WZO also engages in training teachers
in Hebrew language instruction.
The Central Zionist Archives is the historic archive of the Zionist movement, the WZO, The Jewish Agency and
Keren Hayesod. Its records (documents, photos, posters, maps, books, and more) of the Zionist enterprise are available
online, and provide historical information about migration to Israel and the re-birth of the Jewish nation in its ancient
homeland, resources for family research, and myriad stories of individuals as well as the story of the Jewish People in
the modern era. (zionistarchives.org.il)
Beit Ha’am Z-Talks is the WZO’s Department for Diaspora Activities' flagship educational program for creating
Jewish-Zionist dialogue. The program provides an opportunity for everyone, regardless of prior knowledge or familiarity
with Zionism and Israel, to study, discuss and engage with questions of Zionism in the 21st century and its relevance to
our lives. The program is designed for ages 16+ in formal or informal educational frameworks.
The Center for Diaspora Communications and Countering Anti-Semitism was established to combat anti-Semitism
worldwide. Its staff prepares nonpartisan hasbara materials in English, Hebrew and Spanish to help members of local
communities engage in Israel advocacy. (izionist.org)
Sifriat Eliner is a joint enterprise of the WZO and The Jewish Agency. It offers for sale an extensive collection of
classical Jewish texts, the Gesher library in easy Hebrew for both adults and young readers, and printed materials in
English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German. (eliner.co.il)
The International Bible Contest for Youth (Chidon HaTanach): Thousands of young people aged 14-18, in dozens
of countries, participate each year in studying for this global competition; many students prepare for months or more.
In many communities, preparation for the first round of the quiz is arranged by shlichim. Additionally, each year The
Jewish Agency arranges for several dozen of the world’s most successful quiz-takers to gather in Israel for a 2.5-week
“Tanach Camp.”The competition’s final round is televised in Israel on Independence Day. The International Bible Quiz
increases the number of Bible students among Jewish youth in Israel and abroad, strengthens love for the people and
land of Israel, and encourages educational interaction between Israeli and Diaspora youth.
